Come join us on this 2 nights and 3 days backpacking and 2 nights in
the backcountry for novice backpackers and hikers. We will guide you
through the basics of back country travel, map & compass,
"Leave No Trace" camping, cookery, packing light, along with Sierra Nevada natural history, geology, and wildflower identification. Daily mileage and altitude gain & loss will be low for maximum enjoyment and learning. We meet on the first day at 8:00 am on the first night through approximately 3:30 pm on the last day! Half Dome Classic
Yosemite National Park

We'll start in the high country at Tenaya Lake off the Tioga Pass Road and skim our way over the tops of fantastic Cloud's Rest and up the cables of Half Dome and then dip into Yosemite Valley at the terminus of the John Muir Trail, all the time learning basic skills. Don't miss this course for fit beginners in a classic Yosemite setting. Includes the opportunity to climb Half Dome via the cables. High country exploring along streams, lakes, peaks, and waterfall of the High Sierra. Learn to find the rhythm and enjoyment of multiple days in the backcountry. Designed for backpackers who want to extend their skills beyond the long weekend. We'll focus on the logistics, skills and satisfaction of the longer backpacking adventure, which allows for getting deeper into the wilderness. We will be planning a trip which will get you away from the crowds of the front country and experience what it means to "Walk in the Woods". Expeience Yosemite in a completely new way and join us on this extended backpack in the Yosemite Wilderness.

High Sierra Trail Backpacking
with Mt. Whitney Ascent

Sequoia National Park

An adventure for intermediate to experienced hikers who want to immerse themselves in the rugged beauty of the High Sierra Trail. Learn and/or refine your backpacking living skills while you traverse the Sierra from East to West and ascend Mt. Whitney from Guitar Lake on the west side of Mt. Whitney, using the High Sierra Trail, John Muir Trail and Pacific Crest Trail. Finally completing your journey by exiting out the west side of the mountains over Cottonwood Pass and then down to the Owens Valley for the drive back to our vehicles. Learn about the latest lightweight backpacking gear, identify sub alpine wildflowers, and the geology which carved the region, along with "Leave No Trace" techniques. The experience of a lifetime right in your own backyard. Come join us for this fantastic trip with your knowledgeable and experienced guides.
