The summit of Mt. Whitney is the highest point in the contiguous United States. Both the East Face and East Buttress take routes directly to the summit. Both routes are Sierra Classics. Basic climbing skills and excellent physical conditioning are all that are required for this three-day adventure. The first day is the approach hike to our base camp. Day two starts early as we head for the summit and descend back to our base camp via the mountaineer's route. Our final day is spent descending the scenic hike out to the Whitney Portal trail head.
