Or for climbers or hikers who want to learn about the essential tools and techniques of climbing snow. Our clinic is developed to give you the essential information you need to hike or climb over snow-covered terrain encountered while climbing the Avalanche Gulch route on Mt. Shasta. Topics include: Walking with the Ice axe, ice axe self-belay and self-arrest (from multiple positions), crampon fitting and adjustment, walking in crampons, flat-footing, French technique, German technique, using the front points, and glissading.
