Sierra Nevada climbing – North Palisade is the highest of the Palisade group at 14,242 ft. We will climb via the classic u-notch. The climb requires both alpine ice and snow skills sets along with alpine rock-climbing ability. Several pitches of ice and snow-topped off with two rock pitches make this an exceptional climb to an infrequently visited summit. You also have the option if time allows ascending little know Polemonium Peak, 14,080 ft. from the top of the U-notch.

According to many Sierra Climbers, Mt Sill has the best view from any summit in the Sierra Nevada, the best in the Palisades. The climbing via the Swiss Arete with it’s the excellent rock, and the spectacular views make this an outstanding climb. This three-day trip is suited to the climber with basic climbing skills and excellent physical conditioning.

Middle Palisade is the 12th highest peak in California and sits along the Palisade Crest south of Norman Clyde Peak and Mt. Sill.  The remoteness of this peak means that it is one of the least often climbed of the California 14ers.  Despite the few number of climbers it has one of the best 3rd and 4th class routes in the Sierra. A private-guided climb with your Palisades Mountain Guides of  Middle Palisade can be done as a two day or three-day trip.. The summit reveals a small block with spectacular views across the crest into Sequoia and Kings National Parks.

 
Thunderbolt Peak 14,009

Thunderbolt Peak, the last of the 14,000 ft. Peaks climbed in the Sierra Nevada. Climbed during a wild storm during the first ascent, a bolt of lighting left one of the first ascent climbers shaken; hence the name. The summit of Thunderbolt is a steep pillar of granite which done free rated at 5.8. Following the same route up the North Fork of Big Pine Creek to the base of the Palisade Glacier, we climb the next day via the Thunderbolt Glacier surmounting the bergschrund to the upper ridges above making our way over to the summit monolith, a true Sierra Nevada climbing classic.
