Mount Shasta Glacier Climbs and Courses
Located in Northern California in the Southern Cascades, Mt Shasta is the second-highest Cascade Volcano, just 232 ft lower than Mt Rainier. There are seven named glaciers on the Mountain. The four most significant being the Whitney, Bolam, Hotlum & Wintun descend down the North and East sides from high on the central summit cone to below 10,000 ft (3,000 m). The Whitney is the longest, and the Hotlum is the most voluminous glaciers in California. In addition, three smaller named glaciers occupy cirques on the South and Southeast sides near and above 11,000 ft (3,400 m), including the Watkins, Konwakiton, & Mud Creek Glaciers.
